Pattern Terms and Conditions

All digital books and patterns purchased through this website are automatically delivered as soon as payment has cleared, and a download link will be sent to the email address used to purchase the items. All items are sold in PDF format and an email containing details of how to download and access your purchase will be delivered within a few minutes of completing your payment. If you purchase the item(s) with an e-cheque then the download email will be sent as soon as the funds have cleared. I'm afraid that the email address to which the emails are sent cannot be changed; please ensure the email address used is valid and frequently checked.

Payment & Currency:

All payments are collected and processed through PayPal. All amounts shown are in £ Sterling but you can purchase in any currency - the conversion is completed automatically at the checkout. Even when you use your credit or debit card, the amount deducted will be in your native currency. To have a clearer idea of how the amounts equate in your own currency try using this free calculator. Exchange rates are constantly changing, so the result shown may vary from the amount charged to your account.

Mail Order:

I am unable to post patterns and/or books, nor am I able to accept payment over the telephone or from posted cheques. All purchases are completed electronically from this website and download links are sent automatically for the PDFs of each pattern or book.

Refund Policy:

Due to the digital nature of these files (and possible fraudulent copying) refunds are not given on pattern purchases - please check that you have added the correct pattern to your cart before completing the purchase.

PDF Files:

You are advised to make a back-up copy of your pattern file in case of loss or corruption - in these circumstances, proof of purchase (PayPal email receipt or PayPal email address with approximate date) is required before a replacement copy is sent. You are advised to check your spam folder before contacting me regarding undelivered patterns.

Privacy Policy:

By choosing to accept PayPal within this site as a secure method of payment, I also adhere to PayPal's Privacy Policy. As a seller, I do not receive any details regards credit or debit cards; all money transactions are dealt with by PayPal. The only personal information I receive is your email address for communication. I can assure you that this information will not be shared with any other party or persons.

By purchasing a pattern, or by downloading a free one, you are agreeing to the copyright and licensing terms attached to these patterns. Each pattern and its contents is fully covered by UK copyright law, regardless of where you live or where the pattern was downloaded. Different patterns have different licensing agreements for different purposes.

All the material on this Website, including the patterns and tutorials, is owned by Hazel Tindall and is protected by UK Copyright & Design Rights Law. UK laws may be more restrictive than those of other countries.

No part of the information provided, whether it be free pattern PDFs, photos or text, any part of the pattern content, may be distributed without the permission of the copyright holder, Hazel Tindall. That is why you are asked to link to the pages on this website rather than distribute the PDFs yourself.

In the UK designers have automatic design rights. Whilst some may consider this a grey area, all work produced is covered by this – more information is available UK Copyright & Design Rights Law.

Licensing refers to how copyrighted material is used. For your convenience, I have broken this down into the following sections.

Making items to sell from my patterns and books:

For non-profit:

You may make as many items as you like from my patterns, provided you do not charge for labour and give credit to the designer, Hazel Tindall, where possible.

This means that you may only charge to cover material costs, and your labour will be given for free. This license agreement covers charity purposes and making gifts for friends and/or family. If you are donating the item to a cause it may be difficult to credit the designer, however if you are charging at a charity sale or auction, or giving the item to friends and/or family, credit must be given, with details of this website, should anyone else be interested in the origins of the designs and patterns.

If you are selling the item (particularly online) I request that you state that permission has been granted, as this avoids any speculation and makes things easier for everyone.

For profit:

You will be limited to 10 items made from any single pattern within one year (from date of download) - after that year expires, the license is renewed. The limit exists primarily to prevent mass production and manufacture without my knowledge. Should you wish to knit or manufacture large quantities from my designs, then please contact me.

Credit must be given to the designer, Hazel Tindall, where possible with details of this website's URL, preferably on a tag. If the item is to be sold online, the designer's name must be evident. I also ask that if you are selling the item (particularly online) that you state that permission has been granted, as this avoids any speculation and makes things easier for everyone.

Where possible, you should charge a reasonable amount for your labour. Many knitters grossly undercharge for their labour when selling their hand-made goods, and this only serves the undervaluing of our crafts. The only way to change this perception is to charge a reasonable amount for our labour, and the labour charge should be greater than the cost of materials, and ideally be minimum wage or above.

Teaching classes based on my patterns and books:

Teaching classes is permitted provided full credit is given to the designer, Hazel Tindall, for the work. This means that if you are using a free pattern, the class attendees should download and print their own copy. Likewise, if you are teaching from one of the paid-for patterns, one copy for each student must be purchased. Photocopying of my patterns is not permitted.

I am more than happy for my patterns and tutorials to be used for classes so permission to use them is not needed, provided the above terms are complied with. The designer name and website link must remain on the patterns/books/tutorials, and where possible, any advertisement for the class that uses my work should also include my details.

Using my work for promotion:

I am more than happy for you to use my work for promotion, such as making samples for local yarn store, provided again credit is given and information regarding the source is readily available.

All the information on this website is accurate to the best of our knowledge. However, we cannot guarantee that all product descriptions are error free. We will correct errors as soon as they are brought to our attention. Colour photographs are for your convenience only. Because of the difference in which computer screens display colours, the colour that you see may not match the actual colour of the yarn.

"Rights" means all copyright, design rights (whether registered or unregistered), patents, rights in trade marks (whether registered or unregistered), database rights or other intellectual property rights in this website and the goods, for the full term of those rights, worldwide.
