Hamnafield Cardigan Knitting Pattern
Hamnafield is a seamless cardigan with Fair Isle yoke and instructions are given for ten sizes. Waist shaping is achieved through small sections of cabling which also gives textured areas. The buttonhole band has a scalloped edge.
The lower body is knitted in one piece, and the sleeves are knitted in the round. The yoke is knitted from stitches from the front and back of the body and the tops of the sleeves.
In the Fair Isle yoke only two colours are used in each round.
Detailed instructions are given for all steps needed to knit this cardigan.
The cardigan was knitted in wool from Foula sheep, and I was knitting one of the sleeves when I took a trip to Foula on a beautiful summer day.
The techniques used to make this cardigan are shown in detail in the DVD/download "The Fine Art of Fair Isle Knitting with Shetland's Hazel Tindall".
