Shwook hat Hat Knitting Pattern
Pattern Description
Shwook hat was designed for Shetland Wool Week 2014, the year I was patron, and is the inspiration for its name.
It uses either Jamieson of Shetland's Spindrift or Jamieson & Smith's 2ply Jumper weight yarn.
This is a slouch hat so, as long as the rib is a comfortable fit, the Fair Isle tension is not crucial.
Size
Three sizes: to fit head circumference up to (1) 44 cm, (2) 54 cm and (3) 62 cm
Materials Required
EITHER Jamieson & Smith Shetland 2 ply jumper weight, 115m/25g ball
OR Jamieson's of Shetland: Spindrift 2ply, 105m/25g ball
5 colours - one 25g ball of each colour is plenty but pattern includes minimum weight required in case knitters have small amounts to use up.
The pattern gives three colourways but if knitters want to choose alternative colours either 3 dark colours with 2 light colours or 3 light colours with 2 dark colours are needed.

Using recommended yarn and 3.50 mm needles a 10 cm square, is 31 stitches x 37 rows over Fair Isle pattern, after blocking. Thinner needles will give smaller gloves.
