Shetland in summer (3) - rowing

Shetland has approximately 900 miles of coastline and the sea is never more than about 5 km away so boats and rowing are an integral part of island life.

Rowing races gained popularity over the last 20 years. These photos are from a day of racing where teams and their yoals (rowing boats) gathered from all parts of Shetland. I seem to have missed photos including knitwear but there wasn't much to be seen that day.

About Shetland

Shetland

Shetland is the most northerly group of Scottish islands. Apart from mainland Scotland, the other near neighbours are Norway to the east and the Faroe Islands to the north west.
